Tor Helge Aas er professor på Handelshøyskolen ved Universitetet i Agder og forsker I ved NORCE Norwegian Research Centre AS. Han har en doktorgrad i strategi og ledelse fra Norges Handelshøyskole (NHH) og forsker på innovasjonsledelse, med et spesielt fokus på de organisatoriske effektene av innovasjon, innovasjonsprosesser og -kapabiliteter, innovasjonssamarbeid og styring av innovasjonsaktiviteter. Marius Trandheim Kristiansen er stipendiat ved Universitetet i Agder, og han arbeider med oppgaven “Digital Technologies enabling Business Model Innovation in Manufacturing” som en del av arbeidspakke 7 i SFI Offshore Mechatronics.
We are very pleased to invite you to the annual conference 2022. The conference will take place in Aalborg on the 19th and 20th of May. The venue of the conference is Aalborg University.
We are looking forward to visit Aalborg University and to explore infrastructure, equipment and experiments in particular related to Work Package 1. This is also an opportunity to be introduced to other relevant research initiatives at AAU Department of Energy Technology and The Fluid Power & Mechatronic Systems group.

Upcoming meetings:
WP2, WP3, WP4 and WP7 have scheduled a joint reference group meeting on March 17 from 13-15. The meeting will take place digitally. The reference group meeting will start shortly after the scheduled webinar on digital technology enabling new business models (in Norwegian language).
WP5 have scheduled the following reference group meetings (17. Feb.), 16. Jun., 20. Oct.
WP1 and WP6 have scheduled reference group meetings in June. Invitations will follow.

Science Meets Industry: Offshore Wind Energy is a lunch-to-lunch event taking place in Kristiansand, on 29th to 30th of November in Kristiansand. The event is a collaboraton between GCE Node, NORCE and University of Agder.
SFI Offshore Mechatronics centre director, Geir Grasmo will speak at the event and address how SFI Offshore Mechatronics can support offshore wind solutions. Ellen Norgård Hansen researcher in NORCE and member of SFI Offshore Mechatronics WP5 and WP7 will present findings from the project FIRM – Fiber Rope Mooring.

In addition to dissemination of results, the upcoming reference group meetings have reserved time for discussions regarding spin-off opportunities. This is a bottom-up approach to identify spin-off opportunities. The aim is to surface interesting research topics and important industrial challenges to be solved in new projects.
The SFI Offshore Mechatronics General Assembly will take place on November 11. 13.00-14.00. The meeting will be hosted at UiA, Campus Grimstad, Meetingroom N3 049 Utsikten, I4Helse, UiA Campus Grimstad)

The title of the thesis is “Industrial Perception of a Human World: A Hitchhiker’s Guide to Autonomy” and the title of the trial lecture is “Motion planning for robotic manipulators in dynamic environments”.

The title of the thesis is «Modelling and Simulation of Offshore Drilling Systems» and the title of the trial lecture is “Machine learning and computer-based drilling control systems”.

On June 3. (9-11.30 CET), GCE Node in collaboration with WP7 of SFI Offshore Mechatronics invites to a digital seminar/workshop to explore opportunities within Offshore Wind. In the seminar regional companies such as Origo Engineering and Agder Energy will present their activity within the offshore wind market from a technology and investment perspective. Research results from some of the SFI mechatronics workpackages with an emphasis on results with current and future applications in offshore wind will also be presented.
The seminar will be closed with a discussion to identify opportunities for new spin-off projects and transfer of results, technology and knowledge from the centre to solve current and future challenges within offshore wind.
