Rigid-Body Kinematics, October 8

Rigid-Body Kinematics is the topic of the first presentation in our webinar series. The topic will be presented by professor Olav Egeland from NTNU and SFI Offshore Mechatronics work-package leader (WP2 & WP4). The presentation will be hosted on Microsoft Teams on October 8th, 12.15-12.45 (CET) Use this link to join.

The rotation of a rigid body like a ship, a crane load or a robot gripper can be described with Euler angles, quaternions and rotation matrices. Each of these representations have their advantages and disadvantages depending on the application. In this seminar the basic results for different representations of rotation will be discussed. This will be further developed for applications like estimation of rotation and translation from IMU data, the computation of the average rotation from multiple camera observations, and the calculation of a rotation from vector observations. MATLAB scripts will be made available.

Docker, Git and Python, November 19th and December 3rd

Working in Mechatronics is increasingly concerned with software. You may have experienced that you may run into problems concerning packages, versions of software an libraries, integrated development environments, tools and more.Christian Auby at University of Agder will give two presentations related to the use of Docker, Git and Python.

  • November 19th, Why use Docker, Git and Python. Use this link to join.
  • December 3rd: How to use Docker, Git and Python. Use this link to join.

Data management, October 22

Igor Goncharenko, Open Science coordinator at University of Agder is giving an online presentation about data management. The target group of the presentation is researchers connected to SFI Offshore Mechatronics. Some of the topics which will be covered are;

  • use and classification of data
  • data management plans
  • open data and publishing of data
  • copyright and use of licenses
  • archival solutions

The presentation will be hosted on Microsoft Teams, October 22nd 12.30-13.00. Use this link to connect.

Klueber Webinar, November 15

Webinar-Klueber

A Webinar was given by the SFI Partner Klueber Lubrication on November 15. There were more than 30 participants present in the auditorium at UiA: both MSc and PhD students and some engineers from other SFI partners. The lecture was interesting and very relevant: all the available time for questions and discussion was used. The agenda and timetable of the Webinar was as follows:

10:00 am Introduction Klüber, trainers. Mrs. Janke, 10 mins
10:10 am Fundamentals of Tribology and Lubricants, Mrs. Janke, 30 mins
10:40 am Bearings, design and requirements, Dr. Mayer, 30 mins
11:10 am Discussion, all, 20 mins
11:30 am End

The SFI administration would like to thank Klueber for their willingness to give this Webinar. Hopefully the Webinar sparked some thoughts and ideas for future projects.
